Pošumaví

1. – 8. 8. 2026

Together with small forest owners and the Biology Center of the Czech Academy of Sciences, we will work on forest restoration using close-to-nature methods. Not only will we help forests grow naturally, but we will also create habitats where a diverse range of species, including rare ones, can thrive.

For example, we will focus on beetles that depend on old trees and so-called deadwood. Such beetles need specific conditions to survive, such as cavities in trees or the bark of dying wood.

This workcamp will be held in German and English.

What are Weeks for Nature (Tydny pro krajinu)?

Weeks for Nature are volunteering workcamps, where people come together to actively help protect and restore nature. Volunteers spend their days working in forests, meadows, wetlands, and mountain landscapes, planting and protecting trees, restoring habitats, helping retain water in the landscape, and caring for valuable natural sites. But Weeks for Nature are about much more than work. They are a chance to disconnect from everyday stress, meet like-minded people, learn more about nature, and spend an unforgettable week outdoors with a meaningful purpose.

Why do I have to pay to go somewhere as a volunteer?

We understand that paying a fee to work as a volunteer may seem illogical. However, there are a number of reasons for this.

Preparing the Weeks for Nature takes several months, even though the sessions only run during the summer. During that time, a large number of people are involved in preparing the Weeks. From the coordinators of the sessions themselves, to the coordinator and partners we’ll be visiting during the Weeks, to the team who handles the “invisible” but necessary administrative work that a project of this size cannot do without.

We also need to arrange many other things for the Weeks, including accommodation, food, insurance for you – volunteers, materials and tools, and transportation between locations. All of this costs us a lot of time, effort, and money.

A contribution of 990 CZK is the amount that ensures everything runs smoothly and no one is left wanting. Your registration fees do not cover all costs, but they remain a necessary part of the financial package without which Weeks for Nature could not exist.
